About
The Making Pitt Fit Community Garden shares resources and experiences to make gardening a fun, inexpensive, and sustainable venture for Pitt County Residents. We partner with county departments, community organizations, schools, and other volunteers in and around Pitt County to offer programing and volunteer opportunities related to horticulture, adult and youth education, gardening, local food systems, and healthy lifestyles. We have organic and inorganic beds available for rent by the individual gardener, or communal beds that are cared for by the community and donated to our partners at the Council on Aging.
Garden Goals:
- To provide Pitt County residents with the opportunity to participate in local food systems.
- To encourage physical activity and healthy food choices.
- To provide adult and youth educational opportunities and community outreach programs.
- To support community nutritional needs by contributing surplus produce to donation centers.
Volunteer opportunities will be outside, in the garden, and will require closed toe shoes and appropriate clothes. All opportunities are weather permitting.
